Yayi Martín, tax adviser

Experience and knowledge at the service of your needs

  1. Since 1986

Doing tax returns with my father

It all started with my father. He is the one who taught me to do tax returns. He would ask me to check the figures on the returns he prepared for his friends, on an old Casio calculator.

  2. 1989 – 1994

    University years

The time came to study for a degree. Economics at the University of La Laguna was the logical choice. What did I get in Taxation? A distinction, what did you expect! A Master’s in Taxation rounded off a stage that jumped into real life two days after it ended.

  3. 1994 – today

    Into the real world

I worked at two advisory firms. That was enough. In both of them I understood that this was not the way to look after clients. That is why I went self-employed — and I am still standing — with the firm intention of attending to every one of my clients personally. And so it has been ever since.

  • Punctuality

Turning up late is not my style. And with the tax authorities, even less so. If I give a client a date, that date is met. There is no debate about it.

  • Thoroughness

When what is at stake is my clients’ money, you can never be thorough enough. I go over each case again and again. There can be no mistakes. In this job the review never stops.

  • Transparency

The client has to know the pros and cons of their case, always. Half-information will not do. Everything has to be clear and transparent. And, of course, always with a quote agreed beforehand.

  • Training

Keeping up to date on national and international taxation is one of my rules. Working with residents and non-residents obliges me to stay current at all times. They deserve nothing less.
